Höljes is located in a deep forest in Värmland and is expected to draw a crowd of 35,000 fans from all over Europe for the sixth round of World RX and the third round of RX Lites. The Höljes rallycross track is well known for its atmosphere, with music shows in the evenings, campers and carnival atmosphere.
Cooper Tire Europe began as official tyre supplier to RX Lites – the feeder series to World RX – at the start of 2015. RX Lites has support races at eight of the 12 rounds on this year’s World Rallycross calendar.
Previewing one of the most demanding rallycross circuits in Europe, Paul Coates, General Manager – Motorsport, Cooper Tire Europe, said: “The Swedish round at Höljes places some extreme forces on the tyres, with a sixth gear straight and quick changes from gravel to asphalt, plus the jumps. Jumps place huge forces on all parts of the car but especially so on the four Cooper rallycross tyres; however, with the use of advanced materials and a specific construction, the tyre not only can take the force of landing but quickly takes the sudden braking and cornering forces as well.”
Reigning RX Lites champion Kevin Eriksson is at the top of the championship standings heading to Sweden, with 55 points. Kevin Hansen is placed second in the drivers’ points table on 55 also, while new-for-2015 RX Lites driver Tobias Brink is third on 37.
Reigning World RX Champion Petter Solberg currently leads the main World Rallycross Championship on 138 points, with his closest rival 35 points behind.
