Cooper Tire-backed Rallycross star, Timmy Hansen, enjoyed another impressive weekend in the RallycrossRX Championship, claiming third place at his home race in Höljes, Sweden.
Strong performances in the heats and his semi-final stood Hansen in good stead for what was to be an exciting and dramatic SuperCar final in front of a huge home crowd.
Hansen took his joker lap early on in the final, which put him in contention for a top-three finish and, when Andreas Bakkerud made a mistake on his joker on lap four, Hansen assumed the lead to the delight of the Swedish fans.
A slight error from 21-year-old Hansen saw Bakkerud reclaim the position and Mattias Ekstrom followed suit in a tense, nose-to-tail battle, which saw Hansen take his fourth podium finish of the season.
An elated Hansen said, “I’m really happy to achieve a podium position, especially in front of the 30,000 spectators who have supported me in an amazing way at my home event.”
The result sees Hansen consolidate his position in the standings, as he now trails teammate and championship leader, Timur Timerzyanov, by just four points with three rounds remaining.
There now follows a summer break in the RallycrossRX Championship, with the next round taking place at the revered Lohéac venue in France over the weekend of August 31/September 1.
